Polish video game publisher, CD Projekt (CDPR), was disappointed on the sales of “Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales” when they launched it in October 2018 for Windows PC.
They blame the disappointing sales on launching the game exclusively on GOG.com, which is interesting because CDPR owns GOG.com.
According to Adam Kicinski (co-chief executive CD Projekt), their expectations of the game’s sales were high. They based their expectations on the anticipation of the game by the community.
Adam Kicinski also said that GOG has a smaller reach than Steam so they considered launching “Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales” there, too.
But apparently, for the first October 23, 2018 PC release, CDPR decided to exclusively launch “Thronebreaker” on GOG.com. Later on, it was listed on Steam on November 9, 2018.
CDPR may be disappointed with “Thronebreaker” sales but the gaming community and the press, gave very positive reviews about the game on both Steam, and GOG.com.
Still, whether there’ll be additional installments of the “Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales”, depends on its outcome financially.
“Thronebreaker” is set to be released for Xbox One and for PlayStation 4 on December 4, 2018.
